24V to 12V converter

The Truth about 12V to 24V DC-DC Converters

DC-DC converters can be daunting, but one company makes obtaining them easier than ever before, even 12v to 24v DC-DC converters.

Sometimes technicians just need 12 volts from a 24-volt source. This is where a 24V to 12V converter can come into play. It is built around the LM324 IC, configured as an oscillator to produce a switching frequency via the transistor (semiconductor switching element).

DC-DC converters are found in all types of technology today. They work hard to step up, or step down, voltages from one level to another, for the sake of power efficiency. Without them, we wouldn’t have all the on-the-go devices that make us so happy.
For example, this technology can be spotted in electric cars. Think about how an electric car works for a moment. To get the vehicle moving, a lot of power is needed! The power comes in at one level and goes out at another.
Even the car radio could require a converter to manage the massive power coming for the battery, making it the appropriate lower level the radio needs to play some tunes.
Without getting overly technical, it’s important to note that there are many types of converters on the market right now. For example, the 24V to 12V converter is common. Another variation is the 48V/12V operation. Every converter has a unique role to play.
The problem with converters, at least traditionally, was their size. Sometimes they were too big. This might not seem like a huge deal, but consider how small a sensor is in a car or how small we want our tablets, cellphones, and laptops to be. That means small electronics!
It's important to remember that even devices like night vision goggles, famously brought to life by HVM Technology, Inc. (www.hvmtech.com), relies on such technology too.
Fun fact: DC stands for direct current which is unidirectional (flow in one direction). AC, on the contrary, goes both ways. It stands for alternating current.
Whether on the market for 24V to 12V converter or something else, microelectronic producers are ready to assist. Many even offer custom design if necessary
